Is Teshuva a Prerequisite for Geula?
The claim that geula must come about, without any mention of teshuva, is based on a flawed text in the printed versions of the Talmud Bavli. In this shiur, Rabbi David Bar-Hayim will show how reading the Talmud Yerushalmi’s statement on the matter, as well as other related sources, enables a more correct understanding of the issue.
Rabbi Bar-Hayim is the founder and head of Machon Shilo, an institution dedicated to the restoration and dissemination of Torat Eretz Yisrael. He advocates a shift away from “exile mode” towards a form of Judaism that is more authentic and appropriate for the Jewish people united and sovereign in its own land. His piskei halakha give equal weight to all sources from Hazal, including the Yerushalmi.
