Last week, hundreds of Givat Shmuel parents launched an official complaint with the Givat Shmuel Municipality over the cost of the Matnas’ Summer Camp programs. This year, program costs average between 1100-2100 NIS per child per month.
In response, the Municipality claimed the programs were offered at costs, and any changes in price are due to inflation.
As a non-profit, most Matnas programs are subsidized, and in the few cases were a program actually raises money, these funds are used to directly pay for other Matnas-affiliated events.
Regardless of the reasoning, the situation has many parents reevaluating their children’s summer options.
