The high-speed train construction is coming to a close. Construction allegedly will last only a year and a half longer on the 28-minute train between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The train will run at 160 km and depart 4 times every hour. The track is about 57 km and the cost is estimated to be about 7 billion shekels. The track consists of 5 tunnels and ten bridges.
In Jerusalem a station is being built between the ICC and the Central Bus Station and the station is intended to be used a as civilian nuclear shelter.
At the beginning of 2018, the minister of transport plans on inaugurating the project along with the upgraded highway.
